welcome back to another week of the couch culture club!

Sorbet coloured buildings, viking kingdoms and fairytales are conjured up when thinking of this weeks destination. Welcome to week 15 of the Couch Culture Club, please won’t you join us in the enchanting country of Denmark.

Denmark is renowned for incredible food and places a great emphasis on all things meat. This week you’ll taste a go-to eat found on the streets of Denmark, the Røde Pølser or Danish hot dog. Accompanied by a cocktail championing one of Denmark’s most popular liquors Akvavit literally translated as "water of life". Take in some rural scenery with this weeks film selection, the 2015 drama Rams. A heartwarming film which tells the story of two estranged farming brothers who band together to save their flocks of sheep from authorities who want them destroyed.

Denmark hot dog

Røde Pølse

INGREDIENTS

  • Copenhagen Street Dog røde pølser

  • Hot dog buns

  • 5 tsp of ketchup mixed with 1 tsp of apple sauce

  • Spicy mustard

  • Remoulade sauce

  • Diced onions

  • Diced Sweet Pickles

  • Fried onions

METHOD

Cook the hot dogs as per instructions on the pack. Usually adding water to a saucepan and boiling for 5 minutes. You can then choose to heat oil or butter and grill for 5 minutes each side until crispy. Then toast hot dog buns.

Top with ketchup mixture, mustard and remoulade. Scatter diced onions and pickles on top Finally, delicately top with fried onions.

 
 
Nordic Summer cocktail

Nordic Summer

What you’ll need

  • 2 shots Akvavit

  • 1 shot Aperol

  • 30ml freshly squeezed lime juice

How to make it

Add all ingredients to a cocktail shaker and fill 3/4 with ice.
Shake until well chilled, about 12 seconds.
Strain into a glass.

Garnish with an orange twist!

This weeks film is the heartwarming drama, Rams. The film tells the story of two estranged brother on a remote farming valley, who have’t spoken in more than 40 years who have to come together in order to save what's dearest to them - their sheep.
