Couch Culture Club - Las Vegas

Las Vegas

glad to see you again for week 3 of our Couch Culture Club in viva las vegas!

The city of sin is our destination for week 3 of the Couch Culture Club. Last week we thought big, taking you on a journey through-out the continent of South America so this time we are going in for a closer look at just one city, none other than Las Vegas.

Create an all out Vegas night at home by cooking up a juicy Las Vegas Strip Burger, inspired by Gordon Ramsay’s Hell’s Kitchen burger recipe from his iconic restaurant in Caesars Palace. Keep the night going with the only time you will enjoy a kick in the head with a Kick in the Head Cocktail created by Las Vegas’s Golden Gate. The bar was a popular hangout of Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr. and Dean Martin during the Rat Pack era, and now pays tribute to Las Vegas’s prohibition era. To top the night off flick on the Griswold’s “Vegas Vacation” on Netflix for a good laugh and look at the glitzy mecca of slots and showgirls, Las Vegas has to offer vacationers.

If you’re headed with us this week, we would love to see your photos you can send them to us on Facebook or via email

Las Vegas Strip Burger

INGREDIENTS

  • 900 grams 15-20% fat beef mince

  • Butter or oil

  • Salt & Pepper

  • Brioche Buns

  • Monterey Jack cheese

  • 1 Onion, cut into thick slices

  • 1 Large Tomato, cut into thick slices

  • 2 Cos Lettuce

  • ½ Cup Mustard Dijonnaise

METHOD

Take the beef out of the refrigerator and allow it to sit at room temperature for about 5-10 minutes before forming the patties. Form beef into hamburger patties. Use your thumb to imprint a dimple into the middle of each burger. (This prevents the middle of the burgers from puffing up while cooking). Season both sides of the hamburgers with salt and pepper.

Make sure the pan or grill you are cooking with is nice and hot before putting the patties in. Melt 1 tablespoon of butter into the pan or coat the patties with oil if cooking on a grill, place the patties on and cook for 2-3 minutes each side. Begin preparing the brioche buns as the burgers are cooking. Season buns with salt and pepper and crisp them on both sides in the pan or grill for 2-3 minutes each side.

Next add some oil and add the onions as the buns and burgers are cooking. Thirty seconds before patties come off; you need to season the patties again, then add your jack cheese on the top of patties to melt while burgers still cooking.

On your plate set up the brioche buns with Mustard Dijonnaise, lettuce and tomatoes before taking the burger patties off and placing on top. Place the onions on top of each patty and finish by placing the top bun.
